Nothing To Wear – The Solution to That Age-Old Problem, No Matter Your Age or Size

We’ve all been there: standing in front of a wardrobe full of clothes, feeling like we have nothing to wear. Maybe you don’t love what’s in your wardrobe, or perhaps the pieces don’t fit or flatter you the way they used to. And creating a stylish outfit? Well, that feels impossible when nothing seems to go together.

If you’re over 50 and feeling stuck in your wardrobe, it’s not your fault. Personal style can feel like a mystery, especially when your body changes or you’re unsure how to dress in a way that makes you feel empowered. Style isn’t something we were taught when we were young, yet we beat ourselves up because we think we should know what goes together or how to create outfits. The good news is – it can be learned.

True style comes from a journey of discovery about who you are and how you express that. How you feel when you get dressed is far more important than whether you “should” wear fuchsia or orange. That’s why I don’t put my clients into seasonal boxes labelled Spring or Winter and rather than telling you you need to turn your body back into the “perfect” hourglass I show you how to flatter your shape and dress with comfort and ease.

Nothing to wear how to solve the problem

Once we’ve turned 50 we no longer want to be dictated to about what we can or can’t wear, instead we want to understand what makes us feel our best.

It’s Time to Stop Feeling Frustrated by Your Wardrobe

Do you find yourself:

  • Hating what you see in the mirror?
  • Struggling to put outfits together each day?
  • Avoiding social events because you don’t have the right outfit?
  • Dreading having your photograph taken?
  • Wasting money on clothes that never get worn?
  • Despairing that nothing fits or works for you?

These feelings are so common, but they don’t have to be your reality. When you understand what works for your body, your style, and your life, getting dressed becomes easy and enjoyable. You’ll stop worrying about your wardrobe and start living your life with confidence.

With over 25 years of experience in helping women with that dilemma of nothing to wear and creating wardrobes that work for them, I know a thing or two about dressing with confidence. My journey began in the early 2000s when I ran two clothing shops, helping my clients build capsule wardrobes of mix-and-match outfits. Less clutter, more outfit options—this became the mantra that transformed the way my clients dressed.

Fast forward to today, and I’ve worked with thousands of women, both in-person and virtually, guiding them to build wardrobes that truly reflect their style, body, and lifestyle.

I’ve developed a process that will help you get from where you are now – frustrated and overwhelmed by your wardrobe and never having the perfect outfit to enjoying getting dressed everyday with a wardrobe full of potential.

Step 1 – Discovery

This is all about drawing a line in the sand and seeing where you are now.

It involves looking at your colouring and body shape, seeing what’s changed and what needs attention.

Instead of sticking to a rigid colour palette, it’s about creating one that lifts you both physically and mentally. Finding colours you love that resonate with you and learning how to mix them with confidence.

creating a personalised colour palette

When it comes to dressing your shape, instead of fixing the one you’ve got, it’s about focusing on what makes you feel confident – showing off what you like about your body (come on the is something!) and drawing attention away from what you don’t. Of course shapes of clothing play a part in this and fabrics are important, but rather than being fixated on trying to be something you aren’t (and by the way the perfect shape doesn’t exist) it’s about honouring who you are and making clothes work for you, not the other way around.

Step 2 – Designing

This is the fun part!

In this step you start to express who you are. Bringing your personality into what you wear is what makes you individual and your personal style unique.

It’s not about doing a quick quiz that tells you you’re classic or dramatic. To really understand your personal style you need to dig deeper.

I love my clients to create a mood board because you can learn so much from interpreting it and pulling out what I call Style Keywords. I use other exercises too, like your style story and analysing your favourite pieces.
